Disabling Facebook’s facial recognition to prevent auto tagging
The subject of Facebook’s facial recognition technology is very controversial. Not only did they turn this feature on without informing any of it’s users, they have made it notoriously difficult to find where to turn it off. This page will guide you on how to do so.
Step 1: Go to your privacy settings
Click the drop down arrow next to the home button on right hand side of the screen, or when logged in click this link.

Step 2: Open the “How tag’s work” settings boxScroll down the page until you see the “How tag’s work” section. Click edit settings.
Step 3: Turn off tag suggestionsThe second option from the bottom is “Tag suggestions.” If this is already off, then facial recognition is already turned off for your account. If it is turned on, click the arrow next to it. When the new window opens, change the option from enabled to disabled.
Step 4: You’re finishedCongratulations, you have successfully turned off Facebook’s facial recognition. Your friends photos will no longer be able to automatically tag you.
